Thematic Bible





You shall have just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin. I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.






He struck Moab, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. The Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.

The city lies foursquare, and its length is as great as its breadth. He measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand stadia. Its length, breadth, and height are equal.

He brought me there; and, behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate.

The measuring line shall go out further straight onward to the hill Gareb, and shall turn about to Goah.


"'But if he can't afford two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, then he shall bring his offering for that in which he has sinned, the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a sin offering. He shall put no oil on it, neither shall he put any frankincense on it, for it is a sin offering.

"On the eighth day he shall take two male lambs without blemish, and one ewe lamb a year old without blemish, and three tenths of an ephah of fine flour for a meal offering, mingled with oil, and one log of oil.

Now an omer is the tenth part of an ephah.



You shall not have in your house diverse measures, a great and a small. You shall have a perfect and just weight. You shall have a perfect and just measure, that your days may be long in the land which the LORD your God gives you.


"On the eighth day he shall take two male lambs without blemish, and one ewe lamb a year old without blemish, and three tenths of an ephah of fine flour for a meal offering, mingled with oil, and one log of oil.

The priest shall take some of the log of oil, and pour it into the palm of his own left hand.


It shall be square and folded double; a span shall be its length of it, and a span its breadth.

There went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.



The ephah and the bath shall be of one measure, that the bath may contain the tenth part of a homer, and the ephah the tenth part of a homer: its measure shall be after the homer.



and the set portion of oil, of the bath of oil, the tenth part of a bath out of the cor, which is ten baths, even a homer; (for ten baths are a homer;)


Moreover he said to me, "Son of man, behold, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem: and they shall eat bread by weight, and with fearfulness; and they shall drink water by measure, and in dismay:

You shall drink water by measure, the sixth part of a hin: from time to time you shall drink.


You shall make a rim of a handbreadth around it. You shall make a golden molding on its rim around it.

Behold, you have made my days handbreadths. My lifetime is as nothing before you. Surely every man stands as a breath." Selah.


Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about fifteen stadia away.

And look, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was sixty stadia from Jerusalem.


"God understands its way, and he knows its place.

He establishes the force of the wind. Yes, he measures out the waters by measure.


for the show bread also, and for the fine flour for a meal offering, whether of unleavened wafers, or of that which is baked in the pan, or of that which is soaked, and for all kinds of measure and size;


This is how you shall make it. The length of the ship will be three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. For I am with you, says the LORD, to save you: for I will make a full end of all the nations where I have scattered you, but I will not make a full end of you; but I will correct you in measure, and will in no way leave you unpunished."




There was a great famine in Samaria. Behold, they besieged it, until a donkey's head was sold for eighty pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove's dung for five pieces of silver.


and with the one lamb a tenth part of an ephah of fine flour mixed with the fourth part of a hin of beaten oil, and the fourth part of a hin of wine for a drink offering.


Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and marked off the sky with his span, and calculated the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?




Therefore Sheol has enlarged its desire, and opened its mouth without measure; and their glory, their multitude, their pomp, and he who rejoices among them, descend into it.


You have fed them with the bread of tears, and given them tears to drink in large measure.




They took soundings, and found twenty fathoms. After a little while, they took soundings again, and found fifteen fathoms.


Are there yet treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and a short ephah that is accursed?


Now there were six water pots of stone set there after the Jewish manner of purifying, containing two or three metretes apiece.
