"The spirit of the Lord is upon me, for the work whereunto he hath anointed me; he hath sent me to preach glad tidings to the poor; to heal the contrite in heart; to proclaim liberty to the captives; and restore sight to the blind; to send forth the bruised free from bonds; to publish the acceptable year of the Lord."

We are afflicted on every side, yet not reduced to extremities; under difficulties, yet not in despair; persecuted, yet not abandoned; cast down, but not destroyed; always bearing about in the body the death pangs of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our body.

I have struggled hard in the honourable contest, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day: yet not to me only, but also to all who have loved his appearing.

For I am assured that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor those to come, nor exaltation, nor deepest depression, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
