Now before the feast of the passover, Jesus perceiving that his hour was come, when he was to pass out of this world, and go to the father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
by this was the love of God displayed towards us, in that God sent his only begotten son into the world, that we might live thro' him.
God who knows their hearts has granted them a testimonial, by giving them the holy spirit, even as he did to us:
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God, through our Lord Jesus Christ,
let not him that eateth, despise him that does not; and let not him that refrains, pass censure on him that eateth: for God hath received him.
wherefore be kindly affected to one another, as Christ was to you, that you might glorify God.
Consider what proof the father has given us of his love, in allowing us to be called the sons of God: therefore the world does not know us, because it knew him not. beloved, we are now the sons of God, tho' it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know, that when this change shall be, his immediate presence will give us a divine resemblance. he that hath such an expectation should purify himself, even as he is pure.
but to as many as received him, and believed on him, he granted the privilege of being the sons of God. a birth which they had not from circumcision, nor from the constitution of the body, nor the institution of man, but from God.
as many as are actuated by the spirit of God, they are the sons of God. for the spirit you have received is not servile to keep you still in fear; but it is the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry Abba, that is, father. the same spirit testifies to our spirit, that we are the children of God.read more.
and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; although we now suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him.
and because ye are sons, God has sent forth the spirit of his son into your hearts, crying Abba, that is, father;
'tis he that has voluntarily renew'd us by the oracles of truth, that we might be the first converts of the new creation.
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth, is born of God, and knoweth God.
Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Messiah, is born of God: and every one that loves the father, will likewise be affected with love to his son.
teaching them to observe every thing which I have enjoin'd you: and be assured I shall be always with you to the end of the world.
(since I am with thee, and no man shall lift up his hand so as to hurt thee:) for my people in this city are numerous."
by whom we have freedom of access to God, with confidence, by faith in him.
who has given us access by faith to that degree of favour, we are in, by which we triumph in the hopes of divine glory.
us therefore approach with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may obtain the seasonable assistance of divine mercy and favour.
Wherefore, my brethren, since by virtue of the blood of Jesus we have the liberty of entring into the holy of holies, by a new and living way which he has first open'd for us, thro' the veil, that is, thro' his flesh; and having an high priest, who is established over the house of God,read more.
let us draw near with sincerity, in full assurance of faith, having our consciences purified from guilt, and our bodies washed with pure water.
being justified by his unmerited favour through the redemption that is by Jesus Christ:
and this is the pledge of our inheritance, being given for the deliverance of his peculiar people, to the display of his glory.
nor with the blood of goats and calves, but with his own blood he enter'd once for all into the holy of holys, after having obtained for us an eternal redemption.
I say, his goodness at this time: that he might appear to be just, and the justifier of him who believes in Jesus.
neither is the gift, as was the fall by one sin: for the sentence of condemnation, was for one offence; but the divine favour extends to justification from a multitude of sins.
who shall plead against God's elect? shall God who justifieth them? who shall condemn them? shall Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, and makes intercession for us?
and such were some of you: but you have been washed, you have been sanctified, you have been justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and by the spirit of our God.
if we confess our sins, as he is faithful and just, he will forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all iniquity.
and that repentance and remission of sins should be preach'd in his name, among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
