Of these things, be putting them in remembrance, adjuring them before God not to be waging word-battles, - useful, for nothing, occasioning a subversion of them that hearken.
And, a servant of the Lord, ought not to strive, but to be, gentle, towards all, apt in teaching, ready to endure malice, -
For ye are yet fleshly. For, whereas there are, among you, jealousy and strife, are ye not, fleshly, and, after the manner of men, walking?

Better to dwell on the corner of the roof, than a quarrelsome wife, and a house in common.
But, foolish questionings, and genealogies, and strife, and contentions about matters of law, avoid, for they are unprofitable and vain.
Drive away the scoffer, that strife may depart, and quarrel, and contempt may cease.

Black coal to burning blocks, and wood to fire, so is a contentious man, for kindling strife.
