My dearly loved brothers, understand this: Everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger,
For God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but one of power, love, and sound judgment.

Be silent before the Lord and wait expectantly for Him;
do not be agitated by one who prospers in his way,
by the man who carries out evil plans. Refrain from anger and give up your rage;
do not be agitated—it can only bring harm.
For evildoers will be destroyed,
but those who put their hope in the Lord
will inherit the land.
If the ruler’s anger rises against you, don’t leave your place,
for calmness puts great offenses to rest.
After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, restraining the four winds of the earth so that no wind could blow on the earth or on the sea or on any tree.
They were stoning Stephen as he called out: “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!” Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin!” And saying this, he fell asleep.
Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
