Being slow to anger is better than being mighty. Being self-controlled is better than ruling a city.

A mild answer turns away anger. Harsh words stir up anger.

But I tell you, do not resist a wicked person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other to that person.

Walk with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, putting up with one another in love.

The overseer therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate in habits, sound in mind, orderly, hospitable, qualified to teach; not addicted to wine, not quarrelsome; but gentle, not contentious, no lover of money;

The Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind (gentle) to all, able to teach, and patient when wronged.

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable (yielding), full of mercy and good fruits, without discord (partiality), without hypocrisy.

After Jacob died, Joseph's brothers said to each other: What if Joseph still hates us and wants to get even with us for all the cruel things we did to him? Thus they sent word to Joseph, saying: Your father gave us orders before his death. He said, You are to say to Joseph: Let the wrongdoing of your brothers be overlooked, and the evil they did to you. Consider what you should do because our master and his whole household are doomed. He is such a worthless man that it is useless to talk to him.

Do not befriend an angry man. Do not associate with a man who throws fits. If you do you will learn his ways and you will become trapped.

Be angry and do not sin. Do not let the sun go down upon your anger (rage). Do not give the devil an opportunity.

Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things.

You know this, my beloved brothers. But let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. The anger of man does not promote the righteousness of God.

Brace up your minds. Remain sober, and set your hope perfectly on the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Yes, for this very reason you do your part with all diligence. Supply virtue to your faith. Add knowledge to your virtue. Include self-control with your knowledge. Supply patience to your self-control. Your patience should be helped by godliness. Add brotherly kindness to your godliness. And to your brotherly kindness add love.

I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh. These are in opposition to one another that you may not do the things that you would. But if the Spirit leads you, you are not under the Law.

My beloved, you have always obeyed, not just in my presence, but now much more in my absence. Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. It is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure.

God has not given us a spirit of timidity (fear), but of power and love and discipline.
