do every thing without murmuring and disputes:

it is not my indigence that makes me say this: for I have learn'd, in whatevever state I am, therewith to be content: I know how to be in want,

be thankful to God for every thing, for so christians are oblig'd to be.

neither murmur ye, as some of them murmured, and were slain by the destroying angel. All these things happened to them for examples: and are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come.

which the Pharisees observing, why, said they to his disciples, is your master so familiar with publicans and such loose people?

when the Scribes and Pharisees saw him eating with such a crew, they ask'd his disciples, what's the meaning that he is so familiar with people of such a wretched character?

but the Scribes and Pharisees of that place reproach'd his disciples, and said, why do ye eat and drink with publicans and scandalous people?

the Pharisees seeing that, said to him, see, your disciples are doing what is unlawful to do on the sabbath-day.

upon which the Pharisees said to him, pray observe how they trespass on the sabbath-day.

upon which some of the Pharisees said to them, why do you do what is not allowed to be done on the sabbath-day?

why do your disciples violate the tradition of our ancestors, in not washing their hands when they eat bread?

the Pharisees, and Scribes therefore ask'd Jesus, why don't your disciples observe the tradition of the antients? why do they take their meals without washing their hands?

why doth this man speak such blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God?

whereupon certain of the scribes said within themselves, this man blasphemes.

at which the Pharisees and Scribes murmured, saying, this man gives access to men of bad character, and eats with them.

The Jews then murmured against him, for having said, "I am the bread which came down from heaven." is not this, said they, Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how comes he then to say, I came down from heaven? Jesus therefore replied, murmur not among your selves.

At that time, as the number of the disciples was multiplied, the Hellenists murmured against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the distribution that was made daily.

and when Paul was going to speak, Gallio said to the Jews, "if it were a matter of some injustice or something immoral, O Jews, it would be reasonable to hear you out. but since it is about disputable matters, about names, and your own law, you may decide that among yourselves: for I won't take cognizance of such affairs."

but Martha perplex'd with the hurry of her affairs, came to him, and said, Lord, don't you observe my sister has left me to serve all alone: direct her therefore to give me some assistance.

upon seeing this, they all murmur'd, saying, he is going to be treated by a dissolute person.

These are murmurers, complainers, who pursue their own passions: their language swells with flattery, which they offer to the personages of men from a prospect of gain.
