For so says Jehovah the Creator of the heavens, He is God, forming the earth and making it; He makes it stand, not creating it empty, but forming it to be inhabited. I am Jehovah, and there is no other.

For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Jehovah, as the waters cover the sea.

And the earth was without form and empty. And darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved on the face of the waters.

A Song of degrees for Solomon. Unless Jehovah builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless Jehovah keeps the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep.

And now so says Jehovah of Hosts: Set your heart on your ways; you have sown much and bring in little; you eat, but you do not have enough; you drink, but you are not filled with drink; you dress, but no one is warm; and he who hires out himself hires himself for a bag full of holes.

that the exulting of the wicked is short, and the joy of the ungodly is for a moment?

He who loves pleasure shall be a poor man; he who loves wine and oil shall not be rich.

And He said to them, Watch and keep yourselves from covetousness. For a man's life is not in the abundance of the things which he possesses.

But they who will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts which plunge men into destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all evils, of which some having lusted after, they were seduced from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

And he said, I will do this. I will pull down my barns and build bigger ones, and I will store all my fruits and my goods there. And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat drink and be merry. But God said to him, Fool! This night your soul shall be required of you, then whose shall be those things which you have prepared?

So are the paths of all who forget God; and the hope of the ungodly shall perish. His hope shall be cut off, and his trust shall be in a spider's web. He shall lean on his house, but it shall not stand; he shall hold fast to it, but it shall not endure.

Let not he being deceived trust in vanity; for vanity shall be his reward.

For he sees wise men die; likewise the fool and the animal-like ones perish, and leave their wealth to others.

Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.

For we brought nothing into the world, and it is clear that we can carry nothing out.

When you cry, let your gathering deliver you; but the wind shall carry them all away. Vanity shall take them; but he who puts his trust in Me shall possess the land, and shall inherit My holy mountain.

Go and cry to the gods which you have chosen. Let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.

And the rest of it he makes into a god, his graven image; he falls down to it and worships, and prays to it, and says, Deliver me! for you are my god. They have not known nor understood; for He has shut their eyes so that they cannot see; and their hearts so that they cannot understand.

Gather yourselves and come; draw near together, escaped ones of the nations; those who set up the wood of their graven image, and those that pray to a god that cannot save. They know nothing.

They carry it on the shoulder, they carry it and set it in its place, and it stands; it shall not move from its place. Yes, one shall cry to it, yet it cannot answer, nor save him out of his trouble.

Then shall the cities of Judah and the people of Jerusalem go and cry to the gods to whom they offer incense. But they shall not save them at all in the time of their trouble.

and saying, Men, why do you do these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preaching the gospel to you to turn you from these vanities to the living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all things in them;

Therefore I also have made you sick by striking you, laying you waste because of your sins. You shall eat, but not be satisfied; and your casting down shall be in your midst. And you shall take hold, but shall not deliver; and that which you deliver I will give up to the sword.

But if you will not listen to Me, and will not do all these commandments, and if you shall despise My statutes, or if your soul hates My judgments, so that you will not do all My commandments, so that you break My covenant; I will also do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, consumption, and burning fever, consuming the eyes and causing sorrow of heart. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

For all this they still sinned, and did not believe because of His wonderful works. Therefore He ended their days in vanity and their years in trouble.

For they shall eat and not have enough. They shall fornicate and not increase, because they have stopped taking heed to Jehovah.

So says Jehovah of Hosts: Set your heart on your ways. Go up the mountain and bring wood, and build this House; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, says Jehovah. You looked for much, and behold, little! And when you brought it home, then I blew on it. Why, says Jehovah of Hosts? Because of My House that is waste, and you, each man runs to his own house.

knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, silver or gold, from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers,

I am Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt; open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

And out of His fullness we all have received, and grace for grace.

The thief does not come except to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

And this until we all come into the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full-grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

And you are complete in Him, who is the Head of all principality and power,

but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, for your sakes He became poor, in order that you might be made rich through His poverty.
