What shall we say, then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! Indeed, I would not have known what sin was except through the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, "You shall not covet."

Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.

So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and just and good.

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

through the tender mercy of our God, with which the sunrise from on high will visit us;

Therefore he has mercy on whom he wills, and he hardens the heart of whom he wills.

For God has bound all men over to disobedience, that he may have mercy upon all.

I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Blessed be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has caused us to be born again into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
