But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!' I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you as well.

Therefore no flesh will be justified in his sight by works of the law, for through the law comes knowledge of sin.
I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died for nothing."
This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun with the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?
