Everyone who has left brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands or houses for my name's sake will get a hundred times as much and inherit life eternal.

Destruction is their fate, the belly is their god, they glory in their shame, these men of earthly mind!

Those who are eager to be rich get tempted and trapped in many senseless and pernicious propensities that drag men down to ruin and destruction. Charge the rich of this world not to be supercilious, and not to fix their hopes on so uncertain a thing as riches but on the living God who richly provides us with all the enjoyments of life;

Therefore, as the holy Spirit says, To-day, when you hear his voice,

Be strictly careful then about the life you lead; act like sensible men, not like thoughtless; make the very most of your time, for these are evil days.

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all men and in particular to the household of the faith.

Let Christian wisdom rule your behaviour to the outside world; make the very most of your time;
