37 Bible Verses about Revenge, And Retaliation

Do not seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, "Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord."

The LORD said to him, "Therefore whoever slays Cain, vengeance will be taken on him sevenfold." the LORD appointed a sign for Cain, lest any finding him should strike him.

"'You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people; but you shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.

Vengeance is mine, and I will repay, at the time when their foot slides; for the day of their calamity is at hand. The things that are to come on them shall make haste."

Do not say, "I will pay back evil." Wait for the LORD, and he will save you.

as when a man goes into the forest with his neighbor to chop wood, and his hand fetches a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slips from the handle, and lights on his neighbor, so that he dies; he shall flee to one of these cities and live: lest the avenger of blood pursue the manslayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and strike him mortally; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he did not hate him in time past. Therefore I command you, saying, You shall set apart three cities for yourselves.

You shall not abhor an Edomite; for he is your brother: you shall not abhor an Egyptian, because you lived as a foreigner in his land.

Do not say, "I will do to him as he has done to me; I will render to the man according to his work."

But if any harm follows, then you must take life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burning for burning, wound for wound, and bruise for bruise.

Give to everyone who asks you, and do not ask him who takes away your goods to give them back again. "And as you would like men to do to you, you also do the same to them. Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men.

See that no one returns evil for evil to anyone, but always follow after that which is good, for one another, and for all.

not rendering evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but instead blessing; because to this were you called, that you may inherit a blessing.

Love is patient and is kind; love does not envy. Love does not brag, is not proud, does not behave itself inappropriately, does not seek its own way, is not irritable, does not keep a record of wrongs;

If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men.
