Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love him.

It is better for you to enter into life maimed or crippled, than to keep both hands or both feet and be cast into the everlasting burning. "If your eye keeps causing you to stumble, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with only one eye, than to keep both eyes and be cast into the Gehenna of fire.
Do not refuse one another, unless it is only temporary and by mutual consent, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again, lest through your lack of self-control Satan begin to tempt you to sin.
Do you therefore, beloved, because you know these things beforehand, be on your guard lest you be led astray by the error of the wicked, and so fall from your own stedfastness.
Even if any one should be overtaken in a fault, brothers, you that are spiritual ought, in a gentle spirit, to restore such a one, each one of you looking to himself, lest you too be tempted.
Therefore let not sin rule as king in your mortal body, compelling you to obey its lusts. Do not continue to present any part of your body to sin to be used as a weapon of unrighteousness. On the contrary, be presenting yourselves to God, as alive from the dead, and the various parts of your bodies to be used as weapons of righteousness. For sin shall not lord it over you; for you are not under the rule of law, but under the rule of grace.
Jesus answered him, "It is written, Not by bread alone shall man live, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God."
And Jesus answered him, saying, "It is written that not by bread alone shall man live."
"It is written again," answered Jesus, "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God."
"It has been said," replied Jesus, "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord, thy God."
"Begone, Satan!" answered Jesus, for it is written, "Thou must worship the Lord thy God, and Him only must thou serve."
"It is written," answered Jesus, "Thou shalt worship the Lord, thy God, and him only shalt thou serve."
