They do nothing but swear, deceive, kill, steal and commit adultery! There is violence and bloodshed in the land. Therefore the land will mourn. All the inhabitants are weak. The beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea will also perish.

Jehovah tests (examines) righteous and wicked people alike. He hates wicked people and the ones who love violence.

A man eats well by the fruit of his mouth. Transgressors eat violence.

If you did this, you would defile the land where you are living. Murder defiles the land, and except by the death of the murderer there is no way to perform the ritual of purification for the land where someone has been murdered.
