The earth also was corrupt before God; and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and behold, it was corrupt: for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said to Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them: and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Some remove the landmarks: they violently take away flocks, and their feed. They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow's ox for a pledge. They turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together.

Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.

Have respect to the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty.

A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.

None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity. Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands. The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whoever goeth therein shall not know peace.

Make a chain: for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.

Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand. And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.

The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.

Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver him that is laid waste out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.
