teaching us, that, denying ungodliness and worldly desires, we should live soberly, and righteously, and godly in the present age;
as children of obedience, not conforming yourselves to the former desires in your ignorance; but, according as He Who called you is holy, do ye yourselves become holy in all your conduct; because it has been written, "Ye shall be holy, because I am Holy."
For the time past is sufficient to have wrought the will of the gentiles, having walked in wantonness, lusts, wine-bibbings, revelings, carousings, and impious idolatries; at which they are surprised, since ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you;
because all that has been begotten of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that overcomes the world, our faith.
And I am no longer in the world; and these are in the world, and I come to Thee. Holy Father, keep, in Thine Own name, those whom Thou hast given Me, that they may be one, even as we are.
So, then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, but especially to those of the household of the faith.
