The little bit that a godly man owns is better than the wealth of many evil men,

Better is little with the fear of the Lord than great wealth and turmoil with it. Better a meal of vegetables where there is love than a fattened ox where there is hatred.

Better to have a little with righteousness than to have abundant income without justice.

Better is a poor person who walks in his integrity than one who is perverse in his speech and is a fool.

A poor person who walks in his integrity is better than one who is perverse in his ways even though he is rich.

How much better it is to acquire wisdom than gold; to acquire understanding is more desirable than silver.

It is better to be lowly in spirit with the afflicted than to share the spoils with the proud.

Better is a dry crust of bread where there is quietness than a house full of feasting with strife.

Now the believer of humble means should take pride in his high position.

For in fact you shared the sufferings of those in prison, and you accepted the confiscation of your belongings with joy, because you knew that you certainly had a better and lasting possession.

They were stoned, sawed apart, murdered with the sword; they went about in sheepskins and goatskins; they were destitute, afflicted, ill-treated (the world was not worthy of them); they wandered in deserts and mountains and caves and openings in the earth. Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! Did not God choose the poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he promised to those who love him?
