The Lord God formed the man from the soil of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

You killed the Originator of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this fact we are witnesses!

nor is he served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives life and breath and everything to everyone.

The Lord both kills and gives life; he brings down to the grave and raises up.

The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

You do not know about tomorrow. What is your life like? For you are a puff of smoke that appears for a short time and then vanishes. You ought to say instead, "If the Lord is willing, then we will live and do this or that."

"O Lord, help me understand my mortality and the brevity of life! Let me realize how quickly my life will pass!

Isaac said, "Since I am so old, I could die at any time.

Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go into this or that town and spend a year there and do business and make a profit." You do not know about tomorrow. What is your life like? For you are a puff of smoke that appears for a short time and then vanishes.

So do not be afraid; you are more valuable than many sparrows.

Certainly a man cannot rescue his brother; he cannot pay God an adequate ransom price (the ransom price for a human life is too high, and people go to their final destiny), so that he might continue to live forever and not experience death.

I will give you thanks because your deeds are awesome and amazing. You knew me thoroughly;

For what does it benefit a person if he gains the whole world but forfeits his life? Or what can a person give in exchange for his life?

For what does it benefit a person if he gains the whole world but loses or forfeits himself?

What I am commanding you today is to love the Lord your God, to walk in his ways, and to obey his commandments, his statutes, and his ordinances. Then you will live and become numerous and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you are about to possess.

Surely your goodness and faithfulness will pursue me all my days, and I will live in the Lord's house for the rest of my life.

For you give me confidence, O Lord; O Lord, I have trusted in you since I was young. I have leaned on you since birth; you pulled me from my mother's womb. I praise you continually.

Lord, we know that people do not control their own destiny. It is not in their power to determine what will happen to them.

He has told you, O man, what is good, and what the Lord really wants from you: He wants you to promote justice, to be faithful, and to live obediently before your God.

Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life because of me will find it.

For to me, living is Christ and dying is gain.

The days of our lives add up to seventy years, or eighty, if one is especially strong. But even one's best years are marred by trouble and oppression. Yes, they pass quickly and we fly away.

For we know that if our earthly house, the tent we live in, is dismantled, we have a building from God, a house not built by human hands, that is eternal in the heavens.

Take note of my brief lifespan! Why do you make all people so mortal?

People are like a vapor, their days like a shadow that disappears.

Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot (the son of Haran), and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram's wife, and with them he set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. When they came to Haran, they settled there. The lifetime of Terah was 205 years, and he died in Haran.

Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.

"Honor your father and your mother, that you may live a long time in the land the Lord your God is giving to you.

Honor your father and your mother just as the Lord your God has commanded you to do, so that your days may be extended and that it may go well with you in the land that he is about to give you.

You must serve the Lord your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will remove sickness from your midst. No woman will miscarry her young or be barren in your land. I will fulfill the number of your days.

If you follow my instructions by obeying my rules and regulations, just as your father David did, then I will grant you long life."

You will come to your grave in a full age, As stacks of grain are harvested in their season.

for they will provide a long and full life, and they will add well-being to you.

For because of me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.

Fearing the Lord prolongs life, but the life span of the wicked will be shortened.

For the one who wants to love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from uttering deceit.

Do you want to really live? Would you love to live a long, happy life? Then make sure you don't speak evil words or use deceptive speech!

He will yet fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with gladness.

I will satisfy him with long life, and will let him see my salvation.

I loathe it; I do not want to live forever; leave me alone, for my days are a vapor!
