'City gate' in the Bible

All the men who assembled at the city gate agreed with Hamor and his son Shechem. Every male who assembled at the city gate was circumcised.

How blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! They will not be put to shame when they confront enemies at the city gate.

On the Sabbath day we went outside the city gate to the side of the river, where we thought there would be a place of prayer, and we sat down and began to speak to the women who had assembled there.
