'Measuring rod' in the Bible
All the tithes from cattle and flocks that pass under the measuring rod are sacred to the LORD.
They pour gold out of the bag, and weigh silver out of the measuring rod, and hire a goldsmith; and he makes it a god; they fall down, yea, they bow down.
And he brought me there, and, behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of bronze, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring rod; and he stood in the gate.
And behold a wall on the outside of the house round about, and in the man's hand a measuring rod of six cubits long by the cubit and a handbreadth: so he measured the width of the building, one rod; and the height, one rod.
Then came he unto the east door, and went up the stairs, and measured the posts of the door, whereof every one was one measuring rod. Every chamber was one measuring rod long and broad:
between the chambers were five cubits. The post of the door within the porch, was one measuring rod.
He measured also the porch of the innermore door which contained one measuring rod.
The inner courtyard had a gate opposite the gate on the north as well as the gate on the east; and he measured a hundred cubits from gate to gate.
I saw also that the house was very high round about. The foundation of the side chambers was one measuring rod, that is, six cubits broad.
He measured the east side with the measuring rod, five hundred rods, with the measuring rod all around.
He measured the north side, five hundred rods, with the measuring rod all around.
He measured the south side, five hundred rods, with the measuring rod.
He turned about to the west side, and measured five hundred rods with the measuring rod.
Now when the man that had the measuring rod in his hand went unto the east door, he measured a thousand cubits, and then he brought me through the water, even to the ankles:
And there was given to me a measuring rod: and one said, Go up and take the measure of the house of God, and the altar, and the worshippers in it.
Now he who was speaking to me had a measuring-rod of gold, with which to measure the city and its gates and its wall.
And the city is laid out as a square, and its length is the same as [its] width. And he measured the city with the measuring rod at twelve thousand stadia; the length and the width and the height of it are equal.
