'Refuge' in the Bible
And the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites, they shall be the six cities of refuge, which ye shall give for the manslayer to flee unto: and besides them ye shall give forty and two cities.
then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you, that the manslayer that killeth any person unwittingly may flee thither.
And the cities shall be unto you for refuge from the avenger, that the manslayer die not, until he stand before the congregation for judgment.
And the cities which ye shall give shall be for you six cities of refuge.
Ye shall give three cities beyond the Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan; they shall be cities of refuge.
For the children of Israel, and for the stranger and for the sojourner among them, shall these six cities be for refuge; that every one that killeth any person unwittingly may flee thither.
and the congregation shall deliver the manslayer out of the hand of the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall dwell therein until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the holy oil.
But if the manslayer shall at any time go beyond the border of his city of refuge, whither he fleeth,
and the avenger of blood find him without the border of his city of refuge, and the avenger of blood slay the manslayer; he shall not be guilty of blood,
because he should have remained in his city of refuge until the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the manslayer shall return into the land of his possession.
And ye shall take no ransom for him that is fled to his city of refuge, that he may come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.
And he will say, Where are their gods, The rock in which they took refuge;
Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Assign you the cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you by Moses,
that the manslayer that killeth any person unwittingly and unawares may flee thither: and they shall be unto you for a refuge from the avenger of blood.
And unto the children of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Libnah with its suburbs,
And they gave them Shechem with its suburbs in the hill-country of Ephraim, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Gezer with its suburbs,
And unto the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the half-tribe of Manasseh they gave Golan in Bashan with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Be-eshterah with its suburbs; two cities.
And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Hammoth-dor with its suburbs, and Kartan with its suburbs; three cities.
And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Mahanaim with its suburbs,
And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, then come and take refuge in my shade; and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.
Jehovah recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of Jehovah, the God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to take refuge.
God, my rock, in him will I take refuge; My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge; My saviour, thou savest me from violence.
As for God, his way is perfect: The word of Jehovah is tried; He is a shield unto all them that take refuge in him.

O Jehovah my God, in thee do I take refuge: Save me from all them that pursue me, and deliver me,
In Jehovah do I take refuge: How say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain;
Ye put to shame the counsel of the poor, Because Jehovah is his refuge.
Show thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them that take refuge in thee From those that rise up against them .
Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; My God, my rock, in whom I will take refuge; My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.
As for God, his way is perfect: The word of Jehovah is tried; He is a shield unto all them that take refuge in him.
Oh keep my soul, and deliver me: Let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in thee.
In thee, O Jehovah, do I take refuge; Let me never be put to shame: Deliver me in thy righteousness.
Oh how great is thy goodness, Which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee, Which thou hast wrought for them that take refuge in thee, Before the sons of men!
Oh taste and see that Jehovah is good: Blessed is the man that taketh refuge in him.
Jehovah redeemeth the soul of his servants; And none of them that take refuge in him shall be condemned.
How precious is thy lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge under the shadow of thy wings.
And Jehovah helpeth them, and rescueth them; He rescueth them from the wicked, and saveth them, Because they have taken refuge in him.
God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.
Jehovah of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me; For my soul taketh refuge in thee: Yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I take refuge, Until these calamities be overpast.
But I will sing of thy strength; Yea, I will sing aloud of thy lovingkindness in the morning: For thou hast been my high tower, And a refuge in the day of my distress.
For thou hast been a refuge for me, A strong tower from the enemy.
I will dwell in thy tabernacle for ever: I will take refuge in the covert of thy wings. Selah
With God is my salvation and my glory: The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
Trust in him at all times, ye people; Pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah
The righteous shall be glad in Jehovah, and shall take refuge in him; And all the upright in heart shall glory.
But it is good for me to draw near unto God: I have made the Lord Jehovah my refuge, That I may tell of all thy works.
I will say of Jehovah, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in whom I trust.
He will cover thee with his pinions, And under his wings shalt thou take refuge: His truth is a shield and a buckler.
For thou, O Jehovah, art my refuge! Thou hast made the Most High thy habitation;
But Jehovah hath been my high tower, And my God the rock of my refuge.
The high mountains are for the wild goats; The rocks are a refuge for the conies.
It is better to take refuge in Jehovah Than to put confidence in man.
It is better to take refuge in Jehovah Than to put confidence in princes.
For mine eyes are unto thee, O Jehovah the Lord: In thee do I take refuge; leave not my soul destitute.
Look on my right hand, and see; For there is no man that knoweth me: Refuge hath failed me; No man careth for my soul.
I cried unto thee, O Jehovah; I said, Thou art my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.
My lovingkindness, and my fortress, My high tower, and my deliverer; My shield, and he in whom I take refuge; Who subdueth my people under me.
In the fear of Jehovah is strong confidence; And his children shall have a place of refuge.
The wicked is thrust down in his evil-doing; But the righteous hath a refuge in his death.
Every word of God is tried: He is a shield unto them that take refuge in him.
And there shall be a pavilion for a shade in the day-time from the heat, and for a refuge and for a covert from storm and from rain.
What then shall one answer the messengers of the nation? That Jehovah hath founded Zion, and in her shall the afflicted of his people take refuge.
For thou hast been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.

And I will make justice the line, and righteousness the plummet; and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding-place.
that set out to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to take refuge in the shadow of Egypt!
Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the refuge in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.
When thou criest, let them that thou hast gathered deliver thee; but the wind shall take them, a breath shall carry them all away: but he that taketh refuge in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain.
O Jehovah, my strength, and my stronghold, and my refuge in the day of affliction, unto thee shall the nations come from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Our fathers have inherited nought but lies, even vanity and things wherein there is no profit.
Be not a terror unto me: thou art my refuge in the day of evil.
And Jehovah will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but Jehovah will be a refuge unto his people, and a stronghold to the children of Israel.
Jehovah is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that take refuge in him.
But I will leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall take refuge in the name of Jehovah.
that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us:
