'Seed' in the Bible

God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: plants yielding seeds according to their kinds, and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds." It was so.

The house of Israel called its name "manna." It was like coriander seed and was white, and it tasted like wafers with honey.

but if water is put on the seed and such a carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you.

But as for the seed sown on good soil, this is the person who hears the word and understands. He bears fruit, yielding a hundred, sixty, or thirty times what was sown."

He presented them with another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a person who sowed good seed in his field.

So the slaves of the owner came and said to him, 'Sir, didn't you sow good seed in your field? Then where did the weeds come from?'

He gave them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field.

Then the one who had received the one talent came and said, 'Sir, I knew that you were a hard man, harvesting where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter seed,

And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it.

Other seed fell on rocky ground where it did not have much soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep.

Other seed fell among the thorns, and they grew up and choked it, and it did not produce grain.

But other seed fell on good soil and produced grain, sprouting and growing; some yielded thirty times as much, some sixty, and some a hundred times."

He also said, "The kingdom of God is like someone who spreads seed on the ground.

It is like a mustard seed that when sown in the ground, even though it is the smallest of all the seeds in the ground --

"A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell along the path and was trampled on, and the wild birds devoured it.

Other seed fell on rock, and when it came up, it withered because it had no moisture.

Other seed fell among the thorns, and they grew up with it and choked it.

But other seed fell on good soil and grew, and it produced a hundred times as much grain." As he said this, he called out, "The one who has ears to hear had better listen!"

It is like a mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the wild birds nested in its branches."

So the Lord replied, "If you had faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this black mulberry tree, 'Be pulled out by the roots and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you.

And what you sow is not the body that is to be, but a bare seed -- perhaps of wheat or something else.
