Jacob took rods of green poplar, hazel, and of chestnut trees, and peeled white streaks in them and made the white appear in the staves:

And he put the staves which he had peeled even before the sheep; in the gutters and watering troughs, when the sheep came to drink, that they should conceive when they came to drink.

I - Yahweh, am your God who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; so I brake in pieces the staves of your yoke, and caused you to walk, erect.

Speak unto he sans of Israel and take of them one staff each for an ancestral house of all their princes, by their ancestral houses, twelve staves, - each man's name, shalt thou write upon his staff;

So Moses laid up the staves before Yahweh, - in the tent of the testimony.

for the cherubim stretched forth their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and its staves above.

And the children of the Levites bore the ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves upon them, as Moses had commanded according to the word of Jehovah.

Thou hast pierced, with his own staves, the head of his chiefs, they storm along, to scatter me, - their exultant thought, is, in very deed, to devour the oppressed one, in a secret place!

But falling on a shoal where two currents met, they ran the ship aground; and the forecastle stuck fast, and remained immoveable, but the stern was stove in by the violence of the waves.

Now, the king, was sitting in the winter house in the ninth month, - with the fire-stove before him burning.

Anything one of their carcasses falls on will become unclean. If it is an oven or stove, it must be smashed; it is unclean and will remain unclean for you.

Wherefore the people stove with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why strive ye with me? Wherefore do ye tempt Jehovah?
