'Ground' in the Bible
All the princes of the sea will descend from their thrones, remove their robes, and strip off their embroidered garments. They will clothe themselves with trembling; they will sit on the ground, tremble continually, and be appalled at you.
You profaned your sanctuariesby the magnitude of your iniquitiesin your dishonest trade.So I made fire come from within you,and it consumed you.I reduced you to ashes on the groundin the sight of everyone watching you.
I will leave you in the desert,you and all the fish of your streams.You will fall on the open groundand will not be taken awayor gathered for burial.I have given youto the beasts of the earthand the birds of the sky as food.
The fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the animals of the field, every creature that crawls on the ground, and every human being on the face of the earth will tremble before Me. The mountains will be thrown down, the cliffs will collapse, and every wall will fall to the ground.
“They will appoint men on a full-time basis to pass through the land and bury the invaders who remain on the surface of the ground, in order to cleanse it. They will make their search at the end of the seven months.
the thresholds, the beveled windows, and the balconies all around with their three levels opposite the threshold—were overlaid with wood on all sides. They were paneled from the ground to the windows (but the windows were covered),
Cherubim and palm trees were carved from the ground to the top of the entrance and on the wall of the great hall.
For they were arranged in three stories and had no pillars like the pillars of the courts; therefore the upper chambers were set back from the ground more than the lower and middle stories.

“The king saw an observer, a holy one, coming down from heaven and saying, ‘Cut down the tree and destroy it, but leave the stump with its roots in the ground and with a band of iron and bronze around it, in the tender grass of the field. Let him be drenched with dew from the sky, and share food with the wild animals for seven periods of time.’
“The first was like a lion but had eagle’s wings. I continued watching until its wings were torn off. It was lifted up from the ground, set on its feet like a man, and given a human mind.
As I was observing, a male goat appeared, coming from the west across the surface of the entire earth without touching the ground. The goat had a conspicuous horn between his eyes.
I saw him approaching the ram, and infuriated with him, he struck the ram, shattering his two horns, and the ram was not strong enough to stand against him. The goat threw him to the ground and trampled him, and there was no one to rescue the ram from his power.
Because of rebellion, a host, together with the daily sacrifice, will be given over. The horn will throw truth to the ground and will be successful in whatever it does.
While he was speaking to me, I fell into a deep sleep, with my face to the ground. Then he touched me, made me stand up,
I heard the words he said, and when I heard them I fell into a deep sleep, with my face to the ground.
While he was saying these words to me, I turned my face toward the ground and was speechless.
On that day I will make a covenant for themwith the wild animals, the birds of the sky,and the creatures that crawl on the ground.I will shatter bow, sword,and weapons of war in the landand will enable the people to rest securely.

They trample the heads of the pooron the dust of the groundand block the path of the needy.A man and his father have sexual relationswith the same girl,profaning My holy name.
The archer will not stand his ground,the one who is swift of footwill not save himself,and the one riding a horse will not save his life.
Does a bird land in a trap on the groundif there is no bait for it?Does a trap spring from the groundwhen it has caught nothing?
I will punish the altars of Bethelon the day I punish Israel for its crimes;the horns of the altar will be cut offand fall to the ground.
Those who turn justice into wormwoodthrow righteousness to the ground.

But the one sown on the good ground—this is one who hears and understands the word, who does bear fruit and yields: some 100, some 60, some 30 times what was sown.”
After commanding the crowd to sit down on the ground,
But the man who had received one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground, and hid his master’s money.
So I was afraid and went off and hid your talent in the ground. Look, you have what is yours.’
Other seed fell on rocky ground where it didn’t have much soil, and it sprang up right away, since it didn’t have deep soil.
Still others fell on good ground and produced a crop that increased 30, 60, and 100 times what was sown.”
And these are the ones sown on rocky ground: when they hear the word, immediately they receive it with joy.
But the ones sown on good ground are those who hear the word, welcome it, and produce a crop: 30, 60, and 100 times what was sown.”
“The kingdom of God is like this,” He said. “A man scatters seed on the ground;
It’s like a mustard seed that, when sown in the soil, is smaller than all the seeds on the ground.
Then He commanded the crowd to sit down on the ground. Taking the seven loaves, He gave thanks, broke the loaves, and kept on giving them to His disciples to set before the people. So they served the loaves to the crowd.
So they brought him to Him. When the spirit saw Him, it immediately convulsed the boy. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.
Then He went a little farther, fell to the ground, and began to pray that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him.
But the one who hears and does not act is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The river crashed against it, and immediately it collapsed. And the destruction of that house was great!”
Still other seed fell on good ground; when it sprang up, it produced a crop: 100 times what was sown.” As He said this, He called out, “Anyone who has ears to hear should listen!”
But the seed in the good ground—these are the ones who, having heard the word with an honest and good heart, hold on to it and by enduring, bear fruit.
They will crush you and your children within you to the ground, and they will not leave one stone on another in you, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”
Being in anguish, He prayed more fervently, and His sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground.]
So the women were terrified and bowed down to the ground.“Why are you looking for the living among the dead?” asked the men.
They asked this to trap Him, in order that they might have evidence to accuse Him.Jesus stooped down and started writing on the ground with His finger.
Then He stooped down again and continued writing on the ground.
After He said these things He spit on the ground, made some mud from the saliva, and spread the mud on his eyes.
“I assure you: Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains by itself. But if it dies, it produces a large crop.
When He told them, “I am He,” they stepped back and fell to the ground.
He didn’t give him an inheritance in it, not even a foot of ground, but He promised to give it to him as a possession, and to his descendants after him, even though he was childless.
“Then the Lord said to him:Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.
Falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”
Then Saul got up from the ground, and though his eyes were open, he could see nothing. So they took him by the hand and led him into Damascus.
I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’
We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice speaking to me in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’
For ground that has drunk the rain that has often fallen on it and that produces vegetation useful to those it is cultivated for receives a blessing from God.
The world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and on mountains, hiding in caves and holes in the ground.
