Ye have lived upon earth delicately and luxuriously; ye fattened your hearts as in a day of slaughter.
And He said unto them, See to it that ye beware of covetousness; for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of his possessions.
But fornication, and all uncleanness, or inordinate desire, let it not be even named among you; for so it becometh saints:
And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast plenty of goods laid up for many years, take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night shall thy soul be required of thee; then whose shall those things be which thou hast provided?
Take heed to yourselves, least at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness, and the cares of life, and so that day should come upon you unawares:
I wrote to you in an epistle, not to associate with whoremongers: but I did not mean not at all with the whoremongers of this world, or the covetous, or rapacious, or idolaters: since ye must then go out of the world.
