but I tell you, that whosoever looketh on a woman, so as to lust after her, hath already debauched her in his heart.

Let no one that is tempted say, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted by evils, and He tempteth no one. But every man is tempted, when drawn aside and insnared by his own vehement desire. Then desire having conceived bringeth forth sin, and sin when it is finished bringeth forth death.

These are wells without water, clouds driven by a storm, for whom thick darkness is reserved for ever. For when they speak swelling words of vanity, they ensnare in the lusts of the flesh, through their lasciviousness, those who had indeed withdrawn from such as deal in error;

I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye will not fulfil the desire of the flesh: for the flesh desireth things contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit things contrary to the flesh: and these are opposite to each other; so that ye do not those things which ye would. Mortify therefore your members that are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, disorderly passion, evil concupiscence, and insatiable desire, which is indeed idolatry:

but I mortify my body and bring it into subjection, least after having preached to others, I myself should be rejected.

And they, that are Christ's, have crucified the flesh with it's passions and desires.

which according to your former conversation was corrupted with deceitful lusts,

and that every one of you should possess his vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, like the heathens who know not God.

Flee youthful passions: and follow righteousness, fidelity, love, and peace, with all those that call upon the Lord out of a pure heart:

teaching us that denying ungodliness, and worldly desires, we should live soberly, and righteously, and piously in this present world;

Dearly beloved, I exhort you as strangers and sojourners here, to abstain from carnal lusts, which war against the soul:

But they, that will be rich, fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which plunge men into ruin and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evils, which some coveting after have been led astray from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
