But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh upon a woman to lust after her, hath already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Let no man when he is tempted say, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man. But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own desire and inticed. Then desire having conceived, bringeth forth sin; and sin being perfected, bringeth forth death.

For all that is in the world, the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eye, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Because knowing God, they did not glorify him as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their reasonings, and their foolish heart was darkened. These are wells without water, clouds driven by a tempest, to whom the blackness of darkness is reserved for ever. For by speaking swelling words of vanity, they allure thro' the desire of the flesh, thro' wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them that live in error.

I say then, walk by the Spirit, and fulfil not the desire of the flesh. For the flesh desireth against the Spirit, but the Spirit desireth against the flesh (these are contrary to each other) that ye may not do the things which ye would. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth, fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection, lest by any means, after having preached to others, I myself should become a reprobate.

And they that are Christ's, have crucified the flesh with its affections and desires.

That every one of you know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in passionate desire, as the Gentiles who know not God.

Flee also youthful desires; but follow after righteousness, faith, love, peace with them that call upon the Lord, out of a pure heart.

Teaching us, that, having renounced ungodliness and all wordly desires, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present world,

Beloved, I beseech you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly desires,

But they that desire to be rich, fall into temptation, and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful desires, which plunge men into destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evils; which some coveting, have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Not given to wine, no striker, not desirous of filthy gain, but gentle, patient, not loving money;
