Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which he purchased with the blood of his Own.

Obey your leaders and submit to them; for they are keeping watch over your souls, as men who will have to give account. Let them do this with joy, and not with grief, for that would be of no advantage to you.
I urge you, brethren, to take note of those who cause divisions and difficulties, contrary to the doctrine which you have learned; avoid them.
Watch out for the dogs, watch out for the evil workers, watch out for those mutilators of the body.
Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,
And the things you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
Take heed to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in them, for if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
But we ask you, brethren, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and that you esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Live in peace with one another.
So receive him in the Lord with all joy; and honor men like him,
The elders who rule well are to be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching.
You know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints. Now I urge you, brethren, to be subject to such men and to everyone who helps in the work and labors.
In the same way, the Lord commanded that those who proclaim the gospel should get their living from the gospel.
And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they give, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house.
Let the one who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches.
For the scripture says, "You shall not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain," and, "The laborer deserves his wages."
Now I urge you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me,
and also pray for me, that in the opening of my mouth, utterance may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel,
for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance,
Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to live honorably in all things.
So receive him in the Lord with all joy; and honor men like him, because he almost died for the work of Christ, risking his life to complete what was deficient in your service to me.
and though my fleshly condition was a trial to you, you did not despise or scorn me, but you received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus himself.
Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God; consider the outcome of their life, and imitate their faith.

Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, let us use it in our serving; he who teaches, in his teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of service, but the same Lord. There are varieties of working, but the same God who works all of them in all men.read more.
But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. To one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, and to another the working of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another distinguishing between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as he wills.
For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; outdo one another in showing honor.
Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
So, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord forgave you, so you also must forgive. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
and may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we do for you,
Since you have purified your souls by obedience to the truth for a sincere love of the brethren, love one another earnestly from the heart.
And this is his commandment: that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he has commanded us.
with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love,
Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
Likewise you that are younger men be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
And we urge you, brethren, admonish the idlers, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone.
Do not grumble, brethren, against one another, that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door.
Therefore, welcome one another, just as Christ also welcomed you, to the glory of God.
