The Victory Song Of David
1 David sang this song to Jehovah when Jehovah rescued him from all his enemies, especially from Saul.
1 And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:

3 My God, My rock in whom I take refuge. He is my shield, the strength of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge. He is my Savior who saved me from violence.
3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

3 He is my God, my strong stone in him I will find my refuge my shield, the strength of my salvation, my high tower, my way of escape, and the one who is saving me. You will save me from violence.
7 I called to Jehovah in my trouble. I called to my God for help. In his temple he heard my voice. He listened to my cry for help.
7 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.

8 Earth shook and shivered! The columns supporting the sky rocked back and forth. You were angry.
8 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth.

8 Just then the earth shook and trembled! The foundations of heaven reeled and quaked because the LORD was angry.
9 You breathed out smoke. Scorching heat and fiery flames spewed from your mouth.
9 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

9 Smoke rose from His nostrils,and consuming fire came from His mouth;coals were set ablaze by it.(c)
9 Smoke poured out of his nostrils, and fire from his mouth kindling coals to flame by it.
16 Then the ocean floor could be seen. The foundations of the earth were laid bare at Jehovah's stern warning, at the blast of breath from your nostrils.
16 And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered, at the rebuking of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.

16 The depths of the sea became visible,the foundations of the world were exposedat the rebuke of the Lord,at the blast of the breath(Q) of His nostrils.(R)
16 The currents of the sea were revealed and the foundations of the world were exposed at the rebuke of the LORD and at the blazing breath from his nostrils!
18 You rescued me from enemies who were hateful and too powerful for me.
18 He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me.

19 When I was in trouble they attacked me. You O Sovereign Jehovah protected me.
19 They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.
19 They confronted me in the day of my distress,but the Lord was my support.
19 They confronted me when I was in trouble, but the LORD remained my support!
21 You Jehovah rewarded me because of my righteousness. Because my hands are clean you rewarded me.
21 The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness: according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

21 The LORD dealt with me according to my righteousness, rewarding me according to the degree of my innocence,
23 All your judgments are in front of me. I have not turned away from your laws.
23 For all his judgments were before me: and as for his statutes, I did not depart from them.

23 and because all of his decrees remain in my thoughts, I have not turned aside from his statutes,
25 You reward me because I do what is right. You know I am innocent.
25 Therefore the LORD hath recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in his eye sight.

26 O Jehovah, you are faithful to those who are faithful to you, and completely good to those who are faultless.

26 In the company of the gracious you demonstrate your gracious love. In the company of the blamelessly valiant you demonstrate your blamelessness.
27 You are pure to those who are pure, but hostile to those who are wicked.
27 With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself unsavoury.
27 with the pureYou prove Yourself pure,but with the crookedYou prove Yourself shrewd.
27 In the company of the pure you demonstrate your purity. In the company of the perverted you will appear to be perverse.
31 Your way is perfect Jehovah. Your word is correct. You are a shield for those who run to you for help.
31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.
31 “(AQ)As for God, His way is (v)blameless;(AR)The word of the Lord is tested;(AS)He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
31 God—His way is perfect;(AC)the word of the Lord is pure.(AD)He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
31 This God! His way is perfect! What the LORD declares proves true. He shields everyone who flees for protection to him!
38 I chased my enemies until I caught them and destroyed them.
38 I have pursued mine enemies, and destroyed them; and turned not again until I had consumed them.

40 You strengthened me with valor sufficient for the battle; you made those who rebelled against me fall beneath me.
41 By you they turn their backs and run. Those who hate me are silenced.
41 Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me.

42 They cried for help, but there was no help. They called to you Jehovah and you did not answer.
42 They looked, but there was none to save; even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.

43 They were crushed as small as the dust of the earth. I stamped them down under my feet like the waste of the streets.
43 Then did I beat them as small as the dust of the earth, I did stamp them as the mire of the street, and did spread them abroad.

44 You rescued me from my stubborn people. You made me the leader of foreign nations. They are now my slaves.
44 Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people, thou hast kept me to be head of the heathen: a people which I knew not shall serve me.

44 You delivered me from civil war among my own people. You preserved me as head of the nations. People whom I had never known served me!
49 You protect me from violent enemies. You made me greater than all of them.
49 And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.
49 Who also brings me out from my enemies;You even lift me above (BS)those who rise up against me;(BT)You rescue me from the violent man.

50 I will praise you, Jehovah, and I will honor you among the nations.
50 Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name.

50 Because of all of this I will praise you among the nations, LORD, and I will sing praises to your name!
51 You give glorious victories to your anointed king. Your faithful love for David and for his descendants will never end.
51 He is the tower of salvation for his king: and sheweth mercy to his anointed, unto David, and to his seed for evermore.
51 “(BV)He is a tower of (ai)deliverance to His king,And (BW)shows lovingkindness to His anointed,(BX)To David and his (aj)descendants forever.”
