The Preface To Luke's Gospel
1 Since many have undertaken to arrange the narration concerning things rendered perfectly certain among us,
1 Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,
1 Many have undertaken to compile a narrative about the events that have been fulfilled(a) among us,(A)
1 Since many people have attempted to write an orderly account of the events that have transpired among us,
2 As they delivered to us, who from the beginning being eyewitnesses, and servants of the word;
2 Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word;
2 just as they were handed down to us by those who (B)from the beginning (b)were (C)eyewitnesses and (c)(D)servants of (E)the (d)word,
2 just as they were passed down to us by those who had been eyewitnesses and servants of the word from the beginning,
3 It seemed fitting to me also, having comprehended all things thoroughly from above, to write to thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,
3 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,
3 it seemed fitting for me as well, (F)having (e)investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for you (G)in consecutive order, (H)most excellent (I)Theophilus;
3 It also seemed good to me, since I have carefully investigated everything from the very first, to write to you in an orderly sequence, most honorable(D) Theophilus,(E)
3 I, too, have carefully investigated everything from the beginning and have decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus,
