5 Wilt thou cause thine eyes to fly upon it and it is not? for making, it will make to it wings; as an eagle and it flew to the heavens.
5 (c)When you set your eyes on it, it is gone. For (E)wealth certainly makes itself wingsLike an eagle that flies toward the heavens.
5 Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.
5 As soon as your eyes fly to it, it disappears,(C)for it makes wings for itselfand flies like an eagle to the sky.
5 When you fix your gaze on it, it's gone, for it sprouts wings for itself and flies to the sky like an eagle.
7 Like him estimating evil in his soul, so is he: Eat and drink, he will say to thee; and his heart not with thee.
7 For as he (e)thinks within himself, so he is.He says to you, “Eat and drink!”But (H)his heart is not with you.
7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
7 for it’s like someone calculating inwardly.(d)(F)“Eat and drink,” he says to you,but his heart is not with you.(G)
7 for as he thinks within himself, so he is. "Eat and drink!" he'll say to you, but his heart won't be with you.
8 Thy morsel which thou didst eat thou shalt vomit forth and destroy thy pleasant words.
8 The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words.
8 You will vomit the little you’ve eatenand waste your pleasant words.
8 You'll vomit up what little you've eaten, and your compliments will have been wasted.
12 Bring thy heart to instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.
12 Apply your heart to disciplineAnd your ears to words of knowledge.
12 Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.
12 Apply yourself to disciplineand listen to words of knowledge.
12 Learn diligently, and listen to words of knowledge.
13 Thou shalt not withhold instruction from youth: if thou shalt strike him with a rod he shall not die.
13 (O)Do not hold back discipline from the child,Although you (i)strike him with the rod, he will not die.
13 Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
13 Don't withhold discipline from a child; if you punish him with a rod, he won't die.
20 Thou shalt not be with those drinking wine to excess, and with squanderers of flesh to them:
20 Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh:
20 Don’t associate with those who drink too much wine(S)or with those who gorge themselves on meat.(T)
20 Don't associate with heavy drinkers or dine with gluttons,
21 For the drunkard and the squanderer shall be dispossessed: and slumber shall clothe with rags.
21 For the (AA)heavy drinker and the glutton will come to poverty,And (AB)drowsiness will clothe one with rags.
21 For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.
21 because drunks and gluttons tend to become poor, and drowsiness will clothe them in rags.
24 The father of the just one rejoicing, shall rejoice: he shall beget a wise one and shall rejoice in him.
24 The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice,And (AF)he who sires a wise son will be glad in him.
24 The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.
24 The father of a righteous son will rejoice greatly, and one who fathers a wise son will delight in him.(X)
24 The father of a righteous person will greatly rejoice; whoever fathers a wise son will be glad because of him.
29 To whom wo? to whom want? to whom strife? to whom complaint? to whom wounds gratuitously? to whom dark fleshings of the eyes?
29 Who has (AM)woe? Who has sorrow?Who has contentions? Who has complaining?Who has wounds without cause?Who has redness of eyes?
29 Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?
29 Who has woe? Who has sorrow?Who has conflicts? Who has complaints?Who has wounds for no reason?(AB)Who has red eyes?
29 Who has woe? Who has grief? Who has contention? Who has complaints? Who has wounds without cause? Who has bloodshot eyes?
31 Thou shalt not look upon wine when it shall be red, when it shall give its eye in the cup, it will go about in uprightnesses.
31 Do not look on the wine when it is red,When it (s)sparkles in the cup,When it (AP)goes down smoothly;
31 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.
31 Don't stare into red wine, when it sparkles in the cup and goes down smoothly.
34 And thou wert as he lying down in the heart of the sea, and as he lying down upon the head of the mast
34 And you will be like one who lies down in the (u)middle of the sea,Or like one who lies down on the top of a (v)mast.
34 Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.
34 You’ll be like someone sleeping out at seaor lying down on the top of a ship’s mast.
34 You will be like someone who lies down in the sea, or like someone who sleeps on top of a mast.
35 They struck me, I was not pained; they beat me, I knew not: when shall I awake? I will add, I will yet seek it.
35 “They (AT)struck me, but I did not become (w)ill; They beat me, but I did not know it.When shall I awake?I will (AU)seek (x)another drink.”
35 They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.
35 “They struck me, but(h) I feel no pain!They beat me, but I didn’t know it!(AG)When will I wake up?I’ll look for another drink.”(AH) >
35 "They struck me," you will say, "but I never felt it. They beat me, but I never knew it When will I wake up? I want another drink."
