A Royal Wedding Song

1 To the overseer over the lilies, for the sons of Korah, instruction: a song of the beloved. My heart boiled over a good word: I say my works to the king: my tongue the pen of one writing promptly.

1 {To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, for the sons of Korah, Maschil, A Song of loves.} My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

1 My heart is overflowing with good news; I speak what I have composed to the king; my tongue is like the pen of an articulate scribe.

2 Thou wert very beautiful above the sons of man: grace was poured forth by thy lips: for this God praised thee forever.

2 You are fairer than the sons of men;(B)Grace is poured (g)upon Your lips;Therefore God has (C)blessed You forever.

2 Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.

2 You are the most handsome of men;grace flows from your lips.(B)Therefore God has blessed you forever.(C)

2 You are the most handsome of Adam's descendants; grace has anointed your lips; therefore God has blessed you forever.

3 Gird thy sword upon the thigh, thou strong one in thy majesty and thine honor.

3 Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty.

3 Mighty warrior, strap your sword at your side.In your majesty and splendor(D)

4 And in thy splendor prosper thou riding upon the word of truth and humility, of justice; and thy right hand shall teach thee wonderfully.

4 And in Your majesty ride on victoriously,For the cause of truth and (F)meekness and righteousness;Let Your (G)right hand teach You (i)awesome things.

4 And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.

4 in your splendor ride triumphantlyin the cause of truth, humility, and justice.May your right hand show your awe-inspiring acts.(E)

4 In your majesty ride forth for the cause of truth, humility, and righteousness; and your strong right hand will teach you awesome things.

5 Thine arrows being sharpened peoples shall fall under thee as the heart of the king's enemies.

5 Your (H)arrows are sharp;The (I)peoples fall under You;Your arrows are (J)in the heart of the King’s enemies.

5 Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; whereby the people fall under thee.

5 Your arrows pierce the hearts of the king’s enemies;the peoples fall under you.(F)

5 Your arrows are sharpened to penetrate the hearts of the king's enemies. People will fall under you.

6 Thy throne, O God, forever and ever: a rod of straightness the rod of thy kingdom.

6 (K)Your throne, O God, is forever and ever;A scepter of (L)uprightness is the scepter of Your kingdom.

6 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.

6 Your throne, God, exists forever and ever, and the scepter of your kingdom is a righteous scepter.

7 Thou lovedst justice, and thou wilt hate injustice: for this, God thy God anointed thee with the oil of joy above thy companions.

7 You have (M)loved righteousness and hated wickedness;Therefore God, Your God, has (N)anointed YouWith the oil of joy above Your fellows.

7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness;(I)therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of joymore than your companions.

7 You love justice and hate wickedness. That is why God, even your God, has anointed you rather than your companions with the oil of gladness.

8 Myrrh and aloes, cassia, all thy garments, from the temples of ivory, by which they gladdened thee.

8 All Your garments are fragrant with (O)myrrh and aloes and cassia;Out of ivory palaces (P)stringed instruments have made You glad.

8 All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad.

8 Myrrh, aloes, and cassia perfume all your garments;from ivory palaces harps bring you joy.(J)

8 All your clothes are scented with myrrh, aloes, and cassia. From ivory palaces stringed instruments have made you glad.

9 King's daughters among thy beautiful ones: the queen stood at thy right hand, in gold of Ophir.

9 Kings’ daughters are among (Q)Your noble ladies;At Your (R)right hand stands the queen in (S)gold from Ophir.

9 Kings' daughters were among thy honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir.

9 Kings’ daughters are among your honored women;(K)the queen, adorned with gold from Ophir,stands at your right hand.(L)

9 The king's daughters are among your honorable women; the queen, dressed in gold from Ophir, has taken her place at your right hand."

10 Hear, O daughter, and see, and incline thine ear, and forget thy people and thy father's house;

10 Listen, O daughter, give attention and incline your ear:(T)Forget your people and your father’s house;

10 Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house;

10 Listen, daughter, pay attention and consider:forget your people and your father’s house,(M)

10 Listen, daughter! Consider and pay attention. Forget your people and your father's house,

11 And the king shall desire for himself thy beauty, for he is thy Lord; and worship thou to him.

11 Then the King will desire your beauty.Because He is your (U)Lord, (V)bow down to Him.

11 So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him.

11 and the king will desire your beauty.Bow down to him, for he is your lord.(N)

11 and the king will greatly desire your beauty. Because he is your lord, you should bow in respect before him.

12 And the daughter of the rock with a gift; and the rich of the people shall supplicate thy face.

12 The daughter of (W)Tyre will come with a gift;The (X)rich among the people will seek your favor.

12 And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour.

12 The daughter of Tyre, the wealthy people,will seek your favor with gifts.(O)

12 The daughter of Tyre will come with a wedding gift; wealthy people will entreat your favor.

13 All glory the king's daughter, in front: her clothing textures of gold.

13 The King’s daughter is all glorious within;Her clothing is (Y)interwoven with gold.

13 The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.

13 In her chamber, the royal daughter is all glorious,her clothing embroidered with gold.(P)

13 In her chamber, the king's daughter is glorious; her clothing is embroidered with gold thread.

14 With variegation she shall be brought to the King; the virgins after her, her companions, being brought to thee.

14 She will be (Z)led to the King (AA)in embroidered work;The (AB)virgins, her companions who follow her,Will be brought to You.

14 She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee.

14 In colorful garments she is led to the king;after her, the virgins, her companions, are brought to you.(Q)

14 In embroidered garments she is presented to the king. Her virgin companions who follow her train will be presented to you.

15 They shall be brought with gladness and joy: they shall come into the temple of the king.

15 They will be led forth with gladness and rejoicing;They will enter into the King’s palace.

15 With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king's palace.

15 They are led in with gladness and rejoicing;they enter the king’s palace.(R)

15 Filled with joy and gladness, they are presented when they enter the king's palace.

16 Instead of thy fathers shall be thy sons; thou shalt set them for chiefs in all the earth.

16 In place of your fathers will be your sons;You shall make them princes in all the earth.

16 Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth.

16 Your sons will succeed your ancestors;you will make them princes throughout the land.(S)

16 Your sons will take the place of your ancestors, and you will set them up as princes in all the earth.

17 I will cause thy name to be remembered in every generation and generation: for this the peoples shall praise thee forever and ever.

17 I will cause (AC)Your name to be remembered in all generations;Therefore the peoples (AD)will give You thanks forever and ever.

17 I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.
