'Good Deeds' in the Bible
“O Lord God, do not turn away and reject the face of Your anointed; remember Your lovingkindness and faithfulness to Your servant David.”
Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his good deeds, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz, in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and his good deeds, according to that which is written in the law of Jehovah,
Also they reported his good deeds before me, and uttered my words to him. And Tobiah sent letters to put me in fear.
Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and wipe not out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for the offices thereof.
And this shall get me a name, and praise and honour, among all people of the earth, which shall hear all the good, that I will show unto them: Yea, they shall be afraid and astonished at all the good deeds and benefits that I will do for them.
Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Now in Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha, (which translated into Greek means Dorcas). She was rich in acts of kindness and charity which she continually did.
Then what becomes of [our] boasting? It is excluded [entirely ruled out, banished]. On what principle? On [the principle of good] works? No, but on the principle of faith.
For we maintain that an individual is justified by faith distinctly apart from works of the Law [the observance of which has nothing to do with justification, that is, being declared free of the guilt of sin and made acceptable to God].
For if Abraham had been made right with God by doing good deeds he would have had something to boast about, but not in God's presence.
But to the person who believes in God, who makes ungodly people right with Himself apart from doing good deeds, that person's faith is considered by God [as the basis] for being righteous.
Even King David also spoke of the blessing experienced by the person who was considered righteous by God apart from doing good deeds.
For the good that I want to do, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want.
For rulers are no terror to good deeds, but to evil. Would you be fearless of the ruler's authority? Do what is good, and you will have his praise.
For we [Christians] are the product of God's workmanship, [re-] created in [fellowship with] Christ Jesus for [the purpose of] doing good deeds. God had previously determined that this should be our practice.
so that the lives you live may be worthy of your Master and wholly pleasing to him, and you may be fruitful in all kinds of good deeds, and may grow into fuller knowledge of God.
but instead adorned by good deeds [helping others], as is proper for women who profess to worship God.
and has a reputation for good deeds; [she is eligible] if she has brought up children, if she has shown hospitality to strangers, if she has washed the feet of the saints (God’s people), if she has assisted the distressed, and has devoted herself to doing good in every way.
Likewise, good deeds are quite evident, and those which are otherwise cannot be hidden [indefinitely].
Tell them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, to be generous givers, sharing with others.
And in all things show yourself to be an example of good works, with purity in doctrine [having the strictest regard for integrity and truth], dignified,
who gave himself for us, in order that he might redeem us from all lawlessness and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good deeds.
He saved us, not because of any good deeds we ourselves had done, but because of His mercy. [He saved us] through the washing of new birth [Note: This refers to our immersion in water] and the renewing [work] of the Holy Spirit,
The saying [is] trustworthy, and I want you to insist concerning these [things], so that those who have believed in God may be careful to engage in good deeds. These things are good and beneficial for people.
Our people must learn to do good deeds to meet necessary demands [whatever the occasion may require], so that they will not be unproductive.
And let us continue to consider how to motivate one another to love and good deeds,
But do not forget to do good deeds and share [with others], for God is very pleased with such "sacrifices."
My brothers, what is the good of a man's saying he has faith, if he has no good deeds to show? Can faith save him?
So faith by itself, if it has no good deeds to show, is dead.
But someone may say, "You have faith, and I good deeds." Show me your faith without any good deeds, and I will show you my faith by my good deeds.
But do you want proof, my senseless friend, that faith without good deeds amounts to nothing?
Was not our forefather Abraham made upright for his good deeds, for offering his son Isaac on the altar?
You see that in his case faith and good deeds worked together; faith found its highest expression in good deeds,
You see a man is made upright by his good deeds and not simply by having faith.
Was not even Rahab the prostitute made upright for her good deeds, in entertaining the scouts and sending them off by a different road?
Just as the body without the spirit is dead, faith is dead without good deeds.
Who among you is wise and intelligent? Let him show by his noble living that his good deeds are done in humility, which wisdom prompts.
However, the wisdom that comes from above is first of all pure, then peace-loving, gentle, willing to yield, full of compassion and good deeds, and without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy.
Keep your behavior excellent among the [unsaved] Gentiles [conduct yourself honorably, with graciousness and integrity], so that for whatever reason they may slander you as evildoers, yet by observing your good deeds they may [instead come to] glorify God in the day of visitation [when He looks upon them with mercy].
Keep guard over yourselves, so that you may not lose the results of your good deeds, but may receive back a full reward.
Then I heard a voice from Heaven saying 'Write-- "Blessed are the dead who from this hour die in union with the Lord." "Yes," answers the Spirit, "that they may rest from their toil. Their good deeds go with them."'
And to her it has been granted to robe herself in fine linen, white and pure, for that linen is the good deeds of the People of Christ.'
