"For this is how God loved the world: He gave his unique Son so that everyone who believes in him would not be lost but have eternal life.

and there was much disputing about him among the crowd. Some would say, "He is a good man." Others. "No! he is misleading the people." Jesus said these things, and then He left and hid Himself from them.

The disciples kept looking at one another, but were at a loss to know which one He meant.

Then, after Judas had received the piece of bread, Satan entered into him. "Lose no time about it," said Jesus to him.

a woman when she is in travail, is afflicted at the approach of her pains: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, the remembrance of her anguish, is lost in her joy, that a man is born into the world.

by your authority I have kept them, during my being with them in the world: those that you gave me I have kept, and not one of them is lost, except the son of perdition: according as the scripture foretold.

that the word might be fulfilled that he said -- 'Those whom Thou hast given to me, I did not lose of them even one.'
