So they brought forward two men, Joseph called Bar-Sabbas (surnamed Justus) and Matthias;

Thus Joseph, who was surnamed Barnabas or (as it may be translated) 'Son of Encouragement' by the apostles, a Levite of Cypriote birth,

Out of jealousy the patriarchs sold Joseph into Egypt; but God was with him,

at their second visit Joseph made himself known to his brothers, and Pharaoh was informed of Joseph's lineage.

Then Joseph sent for his father Jacob and all his kinsfolk, amounting to seventy-five souls;
