When Jesus got back to Bethany, to the house of Simon the leper,

There came to him a leper appealing to him on his knees, saying to him, "If you only choose, you can cure me."

Jesus was in Bethany, at the house of Simon the leper, and as he was at table, a woman came in, with an alabaster flask of pure nard perfume, very expensive; she broke the flask and poured the perfume on his head.

When a woman is in labor she is sorrowful, for her time has come; but when the child is born, she forgets her pain in her joy that a human being has been brought into the world.

I begin to be afraid that perhaps the labor I spent on you was wasted.

But if living on here means having my labor bear fruit, I cannot tell which to choose.

offering men the message of life. Then I will have reason to boast of you on the Day of Christ, because my exertion and labor have not been wasted.
