When Jesus went into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in- law prostrated with fever.

So, when Peter entered the city, Cornelius met him, and, throwing himself at Peter's feet, bowed to the ground.

She recognized Peter's voice, but in her joy left the gate unopened, and ran in, and told them that Peter was standing outside.

Instantly Sapphira fell down at Peter's feet and expired. On coming in, the young men found her dead; so they carried her out and buried her by her husband's side.

"There is a boy here," said Andrew, another of his disciples, Simon Peter's brother,

One of the two, who heard what John said and followed Jesus, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.

It was in this way:--Simon Peter, Thomas, who was called 'The Twin,' Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, Zebediah's sons, and two other disciples of Jesus, were together, when Simon Peter said:

At this, Simon Peter, who had a sword with him, drew it, and struck the High Priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.

When he came to Simon Peter, Peter said: "You, Master! Are you going to wash my feet?"

While Peter stood outside by the door. Presently the other disciple--the one well-known to the High Priest--went out and spoke to the portress, and brought Peter in.

Meanwhile Simon Peter was standing there, warming himself; so they said to him: "Are not you also one of his disciples?" Peter denied it. "No, I am not," he said.

Upon this the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter: "It is the Master!" When Simon Peter heard that it was the Master, he fastened his coat round him (for he had taken it off), and threw himself into the Sea.

Peter fixed his eyes on him, and so did John, and then Peter said: "Look at us."

But Peter sent everybody out of the room, and knelt down and prayed. Then, turning to the body, he said: "Tabitha! stand up." She opened her eyes, and, seeing Peter, sat up.

And the Master turned and looked at Peter; and Peter remembered the words that the Master had said to him-- "Before a cock has crowed to-day, you will disown me three times";

Meanwhile Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple. That disciple, being well-known to the High Priest, went with Jesus into the High Priest's court-yard,

So the maidservant said to Peter: "Are not you also one of this man's disciples?" "No, I am not," he said.

One of the High Priest's servants, a relation of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, exclaimed: "Did not I myself see you with him in the garden?"

Peter turned round, and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following--the one who at the supper leant back on the Master's shoulder, and asked him who it was that would betray him.

Grasping the lame man by the right hand, Peter lifted him up. Instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong,

When the Apostles at Jerusalem heard that the Samaritans had welcomed God's Message, they sent Peter and John to them;

"A curse upon you and upon your money," Peter exclaimed, "for thinking that God's free gift can be bought with gold!

Peter and John, having borne their testimony and delivered the Lord's Message, returned to Jerusalem, telling the Good News, as they went, in many Samaritan villages.

Giving her his hand, Peter raised her up, and, calling in the widows and others of Christ's People, presented her to them alive.

While Peter was still perplexed as to the meaning of the vision that he had seen, the men sent by Cornelius, having enquired the way to Simon's house, came up to the gate,

Peter followed him out, not knowing that what was happening under the angel's guidance was real, but thinking that he was seeing a vision.

Then Peter came to himself and said: "Now I know beyond all doubt that the Lord has sent his angel, and has rescued me from Herod's hands and from all that the Jewish people have been expecting."

While Peter was in the court-yard down below, one of the High Priest's maidservants came up;

When he reached the house, he did not allow any one to go in with him, except Peter, John, and James, and the child's father and mother.
