Let it be unto him as the raiment wherewith he covereth himself, And for the girdle wherewith he is girded continually.

Let them curse, but bless thou: When they arise, they shall be put to shame, But thy servant shall rejoice.

TAV. Let my cry come near before thee, O Jehovah: Give me understanding according to thy word.

Let my supplication come before thee: Deliver me according to thy word.

Let thy hand be ready to help me; For I have chosen thy precepts.

Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee; And let thine ordinances help me.

If it had not been Jehovah who was on our side, Let Israel now say,

For the sceptre of wickedness shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; That the righteous put not forth their hands unto iniquity.

But as for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, Jehovah will lead them forth with the workers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel.

Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth up, Let Israel now say,
