Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?

Son of man, Write for thee the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day.

For the day is near, even the day of the LORD is near, a cloudy day; it shall be the time of the heathen.
