For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet:

And behold, there came a leper and worshiped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

While he was speaking these things to them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshiped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she will live.

Then came she and worshiped him, saying, Lord, help me.

Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children, with her sons, worshiping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.

And behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,





And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, who also bewailed and lamented him.


So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted to you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear to us.








And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.



But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath made us alive together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

The Pharisees also came to him, tempting him, and saying to him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?

Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.

And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking from him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.


Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something from his mouth, that they might accuse him.

And they watched him, and sent forth spies, who should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him to the power and authority of the governor.

This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.




But rejoice, seeing ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you. On their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.







And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if we suffer with him, that we may be glorified together. For I reckon, that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope: Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption, into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus may be made manifest in our mortal flesh. So then death worketh in us, but life in you. For indeed he was sick nigh to death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. I sent him therefore the more speedily, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful. Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation: read more.
Because for the work of Christ he was nigh to death, not regarding his life, to supply the want of your service towards me.

So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God, for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure: Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
