To the married I give charge, not I but the Lord, that the wife should not separate from her husband (but if she does leave, she must remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband should not divorce his wife.

But from the beginning of creation God 'made them male and female.' 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one flesh.

But because of immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.

Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?" And he answered them, "Have you not read that he who made them at the beginning 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? read more.
So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate." They said to him, "Why then did Moses command one to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?" He said to them, "Because of the hardness of your hearts Moses permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery."

Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! Or do you not know that he who joins himself to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, "The two shall become one flesh."

And he answered them, "Have you not read that he who made them at the beginning 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

So husbands ought also to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, because we are members of his body. read more.

But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and God is the head of Christ. Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her headit is the same as if her head were shaved. read more.
For if a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, let her cover her head. For a man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man. For man does not originate from woman, but woman from man; neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. Therefore the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels. In the Lord, however, woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. For as woman was made from man, so also man is born of woman. And all things are from God.
