And Jesus stood before the governor; and the governor asked him, saying: Are you the king of the Jews? Jesus replied to him: You say it. And when he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he made no answer. Then Pilate said to him: Do you not hear how many things they testify against you? read more.
And he gave him answer to not one word, so that the governor was greatly astonished. Now at the feast, the governor was in the habit of releasing to the multitude one prisoner, whom they chose. For he knew that through envy they had delivered him up. While he was sitting on the judgment-seat, his wife sent to him, saying: Have nothing to do with that just man, for I have suffered much to-day in a dream, because of him. But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the multitude to ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus. The governor answered and said to them: Which of the two do you wish me to release to you? They replied: Barabbas. Pilate said to them: What then shall I do with Jesus, who is called Christ? They all said to him: Let him be crucified. But the governor said: Why, what evil has he done? But they cried vehemently, saying: Let him be crucified. When Pilate saw that he gained nothing, but rather that a tumult was rising, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, and said: I am innocent of the blood of this just man; you will see to it. And all the people answered and said: His blood be upon us and upon our children. Then he released to them Barabbas; but after he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him up to be crucified.

And when he had read the letter, he inquired to what province he belonged. And learning that he was from Cilicia, he said: I will hear you when your accusers also have come. And he ordered him to be kept under guard in Herod's palace. #VALUE!
