saying, There was a judge in a certain city, who neither feared God, nor regarded man. And there was a widow in that city, who came to him, saying, Do me justice of my adversary. And he would not for a time: but afterwards he said within himself, Though I fear not God,read more.
nor regard man, yet because this widow gives me trouble, I will do her justice, least by continually coming she weary me out. And the Lord said, hear what even the unjust judge saith: and will not God do justice for his elect that cry to Him day and night, though He bear long with them. I tell you, He will avenge them speedily. And yet when the Son of man cometh, shall He find faith in the land?
(And while he was sitting on the tribunal, his wife sent to him, saying, Have nothing to do with that righteous man: for I have suffered much in a dream to day on his account.)
Be friends with thine adversary quickly, while thou art in the way with him; least the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison:
When thou art going with thine adversary to the magistrate, endeavour while thou art in the way to be discharged, least he force thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer carry thee to prison.
Therefore when Pilate heard this he brought Jesus forth, and sat down on the tribunal, in a place called the Pavement, but in Hebrew, Gabbatha.

Judge not, that ye be not judged: for with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured back again to you. And why dost thou look at the splinter in thy brother's eye, but takest no notice of the beam in thine own eye? read more.
Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me take the chaff out of thine eye, and behold, there is a beam in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first get the beam out of thine own eye; and then thou wilt see how to take the splinter out of thy brother's eye.
Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed and shaken down and running over, shall they give into your bosom: for by the same measure, which ye measure with, shall it be measured back again to you. the learner is not above his teacher, tho' every complete scholar will become as learned as his master. But why dost thou look at the chaff in thy brother's eye, and takest no notice of the beam that is in thine own? or how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother let me take out the splinter that is in thine eye, when thou thyself seest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first take out the beam from thine own eye, and then thou wilt see distinctly how to take out the chaff that is in thy brother's eye.

But why dost thou censure thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? since we shall all stand before the tribunal of Christ; for it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, not to lay a stumbling-block or scandal before a brother.
