And to the angel of the church in Sardis write, These things saith He that hath the seven spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead: be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die; for I have not found thy works perfect in the sight of God. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent: for if thou be not watchful, I will come upon thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know at what hour I will come upon thee.

Watch therefore, for ye know not at what hour your Lord cometh: but this ye know, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broke open: therefore be ye also ready; for the Son of man cometh at a time that ye think not of. read more.
Who then is the faithful and prudent servant, whom his lord hath set over his family to give them food in due season? blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so employed: verily I tell you, that he will set him over his whole estate. But if that servant be wicked and say in his heart, my master delayeth his coming, and begin to beat his fellow-servants, and to revel with drunkards: the lord of that servant will come in a day when he doth not expect him, and in an hour which he knows not, and will cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with hypocrites: where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

for as the days of Noah were, so shall be also the coming of the Son of man; for as in the days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, till the day that Noah entered into the ark, and knew not of it till the deluge came and took them all away; so shall be also the coming of the Son of man. read more.
Then there shall be two in the field, the one shall be taken and the other left: and two women grinding at the mill, one taken and one left. And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They were eating, drinking, marrying, and being married, till the day that Noah went into the ark: and the flood came and destroyed them all. And as it was likewise in the days of Lot; they were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, and building: read more.
but the very day that Lot went out from Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Thus shall it be in the day that the Son of man is revealed. In that day, whoever shall be on the house-top, and his goods in the house, let him not come down into it to take them away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. Remember Lot's wife. Whosoever shall seek to save his life, shall lose it; and whosoever will venture his life, shall preserve it. In that night there shall be two in one bed; the one shall be taken and the other left: two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken and the other left: two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken and the other left. And they answered and said unto Him, Where, Lord? And He said to them, where the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

Happy are those servants, whom the master when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he will gird himself, and make them sit down, and will come and serve them. And if he come in the second watch, or in the third watch, and find them so, happy indeed are those servants.

And when He was got to the mount of olives, the disciples came to Him in private and said, Tell us when these things shall be, and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world. And Jesus answered them, See that no one deceive you: for many shall come in my name saying, I am the Christ, and shall deceive many. read more.
And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars, but be not troubled; for all these must indeed come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes in several places: all which are but the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they afflict you, and kill you; and ye shall be hated by all nations for my name: and then will many take offense, and betray one another, and hate one another: and many false prophets will rise up and deceive many: and because iniquity shall abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he that endures to the end, shall be saved: and this gospel of the kingdom of heaven shall be preached in all the world, for a testimony to all the nations; and then shall the end come. When therefore ye shall see the desolating abomination, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing at the holy place, (let him, that readeth, attend) then let those in Judea flee to the mountains: let not him that is at the top of the house come down into it, to take any thing out of his house; nor let him that is in the field return back to take his clothes. But wo to them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days. Pray that your flight be not in the winter, nor on the sabbath: for there shall be then great affliction, such as has not been from the beginning of the world unto this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days be shortened, no one would be saved; but for the sake of the elect those days shall be shortened. Then if any shall say to you, Behold here is the Messiah, or there; believe it not: for there shall rise up false Christs, and false prophets, who shall shew great signs and prodigies, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect. Lo, I have told you before-hand: and therefore if they say to you, Behold, he is in the desert, go not out: behold, he is the secret chambers, believe them not: for as the lightning cometh from the east, and flashes in an instant even to the west, so shall be the coming of the Son of man. For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. And immediately after the affliction of those days, the fun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give it's light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then shall all the tribes of the land mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming as on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory: and He will send forth his messengers with a trumpet of a loud voice, and they shall gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Now learn a parable from the fig-tree: when it's branch is tender and bringeth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh; so ye also, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near even at the doors. Verily I tell you, this generation shall not pass away, till all these be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of THAT day and hour knoweth no one, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only: for as the days of Noah were, so shall be also the coming of the Son of man; for as in the days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, till the day that Noah entered into the ark, and knew not of it till the deluge came and took them all away; so shall be also the coming of the Son of man. Then said Peter unto Him, Lord, dost thou speak this parable to us only, or to all others likewise? And the Lord said, Who is indeed that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will set over his family to give out the measure of food in due season? Happy is that servant, whom his lord, when he cometh, shall find so doing. Verily I tell you, that he will set him over all that he hath. But if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and begin to beat the men and maid-servants, and drink, and to be drunken: the lord of that servant will come on a day in which he does not expect him, and at a time which he is not aware of; and will cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the unfaithful. And that servant, who knew his master's will, and did not prepare himself to do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes; but he that knew it not, and did things deserving stripes, shall be beaten with few: for to whomsoever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom men have committed much, of him they will demand the more.

But which of you having a servant plowing, or feeding cattle, will say to him, as soon as he comes in from the field, Come hither and sit down at table? But will he not rather say to him, Get ready my supper, and gird thyself, and wait upon me, till I have done, and afterwards thou shalt eat and drink. Is he obliged to that servant for doing what he was ordered?

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. They answered Him, We are the seed of Abraham, and never were slaves to any one, how then dost thou say, Ye shall be made free? Jesus answered them, Verily, verily I say unto you, whosoever maketh a practice of sin, is the servant of sin. read more.
Now the servant does not continue always in the family: but the Son abideth always.

God forbid! Know ye not, that to whom ye present yourselves servants to obedience, his servants ye are whom ye obey? either of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But thanks be to God, that ye who were servants of sin, have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered to you: and being set free from sin, ye are become the servants of righteousness. read more.
I speak after the manner of men, because of the infirmity of your flesh: as ye have yielded your bodies servants to impurity and iniquity to work iniquity; so now present your bodies servants to righteousness, unto holiness. For when ye were servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. What fruit therefore had ye then in the things, which ye are now ashamed of? for the end of those things is death. But now being set free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Wast thou called being a slave, be not anxious about it; but if thou canst be made free, prefer it. For he that is called in the Lord being a slave, is the Lord's freed-man: and he likewise that is called being free is the servant of Christ. Ye are bought with a price, do not become the slaves of men.

And when he was returned, having received the kingdom, he ordered these servants to be called to him, to whom he had delivered the money, that he might know what use each had made of it. Then came the first and said, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds. And he said to him, Well done, thou good servant, as thou hast been faithful in a very little, thou shalt be governor over ten cities. And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath produced five pounds: and he said to this likewise, Be thou also over five cities.

And another came, and said, Behold, my Lord, thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin: for I was afraid of thee, because thou art an austere man, who takest up what thou didst not lay down, and reapest what thou didst not sow. But he said to him, Out of thy own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant, Thou knewest that I am an austere man, taking up what I laid not down, and reaping what I did not sow; and why then didst thou not put my money into the bank, that when I came I might have received it with interest? And he said to them that stood by, Take away the pound from him, and give it to him that hath the ten pounds. (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds already:) for I tell you, that to every one that hath shall be given; but from him that hath not, even what he seemingly hath shall be taken away. But those mine enemies, who would not have me to reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
