He gave his own armor to David for him to wear. It consisted of a copper helmet, which he put on David's head, and a coat of armor.

They cut off his head and stripped off his armor. Then they sent men throughout Philistine territory to tell the people this good news in their idols' temples.

Abner said: Soldiers are all around us. Stop chasing me and fight one of them! Kill him and take his clothes and weapons for yourself. But Asahel refused to stop.

I will turn you about and put hooks into your jaws. I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them splendidly attired, a great company with buckler and shield, all of them wielding swords.

When some one stronger comes to him and overpowers him he takes away his armor and steels his possessions.



Go to that land flowing with milk and honey. I will not be with you, because you are impossible to deal with. I would probably destroy you on the way.

Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things and put them in their own possessions. Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies. They ran from their enemies, because they were accursed. I will not be with you any more until you destroy the devoted things you have among you.



They will go with their flocks and with their herds to seek Jehovah. But they will not find him. He has withdrawn from them.



The lights were to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. God saw that it was good.

About that night, may thick darkness seize it. May it not be included among the days of the year nor be entered in any of the months.

Where is the way to the dwelling of light? And where does darkness reside?

You appoint darkness and it becomes night, when all the forest animals prowl about.

Behold he who formed the mountains and created the wind and declared to man his thoughts, also made the morning darkness and treads upon the high places of the Earth: Jehovah, the God of Hosts, is his name.


Jesus' disciples were hungry. It was Sabbath day and yet Jesus and his disciples went through the grain fields plucking ears and eating them.



The next day they left Bethany. He was hungry.

He became very hungry. While the meal was being prepared he fell into a trance.


So far I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength is now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.




Delilah said to Samson: Tell me what makes you so strong. How could you be subdued and tied up?

Suddenly the power of Jehovah made Samson strong. He tore the lion apart with his bare hands, as if it were a young goat. But he did not tell his parents what he had done.

Samson shouted: Let me die with the Philistines! He pushed with all his might, and the building fell down on the five kings and everyone else. Samson killed more people at his death than he had killed during his life.


However Samson stayed in bed until midnight. He got up and took hold of the city gate and pulled it up, doors, posts, lock, and all. He put them on his shoulders and carried them far off to the top of the hill overlooking Hebron.

I go after it, attack it, and rescue the lamb. If the lion or bear turns on me, I grab it by the throat and beat it to death.
