But ye brethren are not in darkness, that that day should come on you as it were a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, neither of darkness.




Jesus said, "I am come unto judgment, into this world: that they which see not, might see, and they which see might be made blind."


That thou mayest open the eyes of the blind; let out the prisoners, and them that sit in darkness, out of the dungeon house.



For the LORD shall give you a hard-sleeping spirit, and close your eyes. Your Prophets also, and heads which should see; them shall he cover.

Let their eyes be blinded, that they see not; and ever bow down their backs.

Yet men neither consider nor understand; because their eyes are stopped that they cannot see, and their hearts, that they can not perceive.

Therefore speak I to them in similitudes: For though they see, they see not; and hearing, they hear not, neither understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which prophecy saith, 'With the ears ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and with the eyes ye shall see, and shall not perceive."


But and if thine eye be wicked, then all thy body shall be full of darkness. Wherefore if the light that is in thee, be darkness: how great is that darkness?

And this is the condemnation: that light is come into the world, and the men have loved darkness more than light, because their deeds were evil. For every man that evil doeth, hateth the light: neither cometh to light, lest his deeds should be reproved.


If our Gospel be yet hid, it is hid among them that are lost, in whom the God of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest should shine unto them the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, which is the image of God.

according as it is written, "God hath given them the spirit of unquietness: eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, even unto this day."


I would not that this secret should be hid from you my brethren, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits: that partly blindness is happened in Israel, until the fullness of the gentiles be come in.

But even unto this day, when Moses is read the veil hangeth before their hearts.


and said unto him, "Go wash thee in the pool of Siloam" - which by interpretation, signifieth Sent. He went his way and washed, and came again seeing.

He answered and said, "The man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, 'Go to the pool Siloam, and wash.' I went and washed and received my sight."

He answered and said, "Whether he be a sinner or no, I cannot tell. One thing I am sure of: that I was blind, and now I see."


Ye blind guides, which strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel.

Woe be unto you, blind guides, for ye which say, 'Whosoever swear by the temple, it is nothing: but whosoever swear by the gold of the temple, he offendeth.'


LORD, when thine hand is lift up to strike, they see it not: but they shall see it, and be confounded, when thou shalt devour them with the wrath of the people, and with the fire of thine enemies.

Seeing what may be known of God, that same is manifest among them: For God did show it unto them. So that his invisible things, that is to say, his eternal power and godhead, are understood and seen by the works from the creation of the world. So that they are without excuse, inasmuch as when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful: but waxed full of vanities in their imaginations. And their foolish hearts were blinded.


Ye fools and blind: whether is greater; the offering, or the altar which sanctifieth the offering?

Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first, that the inside of the cup and the platter, that the outside of them may also be clean.






"Hear this, thou foolish and indiscreet people: ye have eyes, but ye see not; ears have ye, but ye hear not.





Consider, and hear me, O LORD my God. Lighten mine eyes, that I sleep not in death,

Open thou mine eyes, that I may see the wondrous things of thy law.


And he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness; and knoweth not whither he goeth, for darkness hath blinded his eyes.

He that saith how that he is in the light, and yet hateth his brother, is in darkness even until this time.




This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other gentiles walk; in vanity of their mind, blinded in their understanding, being strangers from the life which is in God, through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their hearts. Which, being past repentance, have given themselves unto wantonness, to work all manner of uncleanness even with greediness.






If we say that we have fellowship with him, and yet walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: but and if we walk in light even as he is in light, then have we fellowship together, and the blood of Jesus Christ his son cleanseth us from all sin.
