My son, hear the instruction of your father, and forsake not the law of your mother:

Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows? Give not your strength unto women, nor your ways to that which destroys kings.

And not by his coming only, but by the consolation with which he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more.

But thanks be to God, who put the same earnest care into the heart of Titus for you.

Again, do you think that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying.

I am afraid for you, lest I have bestowed upon you labor in vain. Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as you are: you have not injured me at all.

But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me has flourished again; in which you were also concerned, but you lacked opportunity.

This charge I commit unto you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which were made concerning you, that you by them might war a good warfare;
