They came to Jericho. When Jesus was going out of the town with his disciples and a large crowd, Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the road-side.

As Jesus was getting near Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the road-side, begging.

Near his gateway there had been laid a beggar named Lazarus, who was covered with sores, And who longed to satisfy his hunger with what fell from the rich man's table. Even the very dogs came and licked his sores.

And just then a man in the crowd shouted out: "Teacher, I entreat you to look at my son, for he is my only child; All at once a spirit will seize him, suddenly shriek out, and throw him into convulsions till he foams, and will leave him only when he is utterly exhausted. I entreated your disciples to drive the spirit out, but they could not."

When this man heard that Jesus had returned from Judea to Galilee, he went to him, and begged him to come down and cure his son; for he was at the point of death.
