I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.
For our tribulation, which is momentary and light, prepares an exceeding and eternal weight of glory unto us; while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen, for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
And know in thine heart, that as a man chastens his son, so the LORD thy God chastens thee.
For I know with certainty that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the coming glory which shall be manifested in us.
Take care to do all the commandments which I command thee this day that ye may live and be multiplied and enter in and inherit the land which the LORD swore unto your fathers. If ye endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father does not chasten?
Behold, blessed is the man whom God chastens; therefore, do not despise not the correction of the Almighty.
Cause us to learn this that we might number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
It is true that no chastening at present seems to be cause for joy, but rather for grief; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto those who are exercised by it.
Thus has the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel said: I am the LORD thy God who teaches thee to profit, who causes thee to walk by the way in which thou dost walk.

Sufficient to such a one is this reprehension, which was inflicted of many.
