Jehovah will strike you with infectious diseases, with swelling and fever. He will send drought and scorching winds to destroy your crops. These disasters will be with you until you die. The sky above will look like copper and the ground below will be as hard as iron. Jehovah will send dust storms and sandstorms on you from the sky until you are destroyed.

You visit the earth and cause it to overflow. You greatly enrich it! The stream of God is full of water. You prepare their grain and thus you prepare the earth. You water its furrows abundantly; you settle its ridges and soften it with showers. You bless its growth.

He covers the sky with clouds. He provides rain for the ground. He makes grass grow on the mountains.

Let no rain or dew fall on the mountains of Gilboa. Let its fields be barren! For the shields of the mighty lie there in disgrace. The shield of Saul is no longer polished with oil.

Jehovah spoke his word about the drought to Jeremiah: Judah mourns and its gates collapse. The people of Judah are filled with bereavement as they sit on the ground. Their cry goes up from Jerusalem. Important people send their assistants out for water. They do not find any water at the cisterns. They return with their containers empty. A drought will diminish their water supply, and it will dry up. Babylon is a land of idols, statues that will go crazy with fear.

If you faithfully obey my commandments that I give you today, love Jehovah your God, and serve him with all your heart and with all your being, I will send rain on your land at the proper time, both in the fall and in the spring. You will gather your own grain, new wine, and olive oil.

Jehovah continued to speak his word to me, He said: Son of man, say to her: 'You are a land that is not cleansed or rained on in the day of indignation (outrage) (revulsion).

When the people saw it, they all went down on their faces. They said: Jehovah is God! Jehovah is God! Elijah said to them: Take the prophets of Baal. Do not let one of them get away. After a very little time, the heaven became black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. Ahab went in his carriage to Jezreel. The hand of Jehovah was on Elijah. Jehovah gave special strength to Elijah and he ran ahead of Ahab until they came to Jezreel.

Elijah was a man of like passions with us. He prayed fervently that it might not rain; and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.

Now after a time the brook became dry, because there was no rain in the land.

In the spring ask Jehovah for rain. It is Jehovah who makes storm clouds and lightning. He will give showers of rain for the vegetation in the field.

The fig tree will not flourish. There will be no fruit on the vines. The labor of the olive will fail and the fields will yield no food! The flock will be cut off from the fold and there will be no herd in the stalls. Yet I will rejoice in Jehovah! I will find joy in the God of my salvation.

He was the one who led you through that vast and dangerous wilderness. It was a parched, arid land, with poisonous snakes and scorpions. He was the one who made water come out of solid rock for you.

The poor and needy search for water, but there is none! Their tongues are parched with thirst. But I Jehovah will answer them. I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

Get out of Babylon! Flee from the Babylonians! Shout for joy as you tell it and announce it. Shout it out to the ends of the earth. Say: Jehovah has reclaimed his servant Jacob. They were not thirsty when he led them through the deserts. He made water flow from a rock for them. He split a rock, and water gushed out.

Jehovah says: What bad thing (injustice) did your fathers find in me that they went so far away from me? They followed worthless idols and became worthless (lead astray) themselves. They did not ask: 'Where is Jehovah who brought us from Egypt? He led us through the desert, through a wasteland and its pits, a land of drought and the shadow of death. No one lives there or travels there.'

I took care of you in the desert, in a dry land.

One of them was named Agabus. He indicated through the Spirit that a great famine was about to come on the entire earth. He said it would come to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar. The disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brothers in Judea.

The famine grew worse and spread over the entire country. Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold grain to the Egyptians. People came to Egypt from all over the world to buy grain from Joseph, because the famine was severe everywhere.

Go now to Zarephath, in Zidon, and live there. I have given orders to a widow woman there to see that you have food.

After a long time, the word of Jehovah came to Elijah. In the third year he said: Go and let Ahab see you. I will send rain on the earth. So Elijah went to let Ahab see him. There was no food to be had in Samaria. Ahab sent for Obadiah, the controller of the king's house. Obadiah had great respect for Jehovah.read more.
